To strengthen collaboration and digital learning across its organisation, Sika explored how AR, MR, and VR could deliver tangible business value. Together with Zühlke, Sika developed a focused half-day workshop to explore how innovative immersive technologies can be applied in business or training scenarios.

Sika operates in around 100 countries, with approximately 17,000 employees working across 170 production sites worldwide. To support future growth, the company’s Collaboration and Digital Learning team was looking for new ways to further improve knowledge sharing, collaboration, and training within this highly distributed organisation.
Emerging immersive technologies such as AR, MR, and VR offered significant potential. Still, Sika needed clarity on where these technologies could deliver genuine value and how to implement them effectively.
“In only a few hours, Zühlke made it very clear to us that it is worth pursuing our ideas and, sooner or later, complementing our staff training with AR, MR, and VR.” “In only a few hours, Zühlke made it very clear to us that it is worth pursuing our ideas and, sooner or later, complementing our staff training with AR, MR, and VR.”
The workshop began with a theoretical introduction in which Zühlke presented an overview of the development of AR, MR, and VR, along with the diverse applications already available today. Building on this foundation, the discussion focused on Sika’s specific business and training needs.
In the second, practical section, participants tested Microsoft HoloLens and HTC Vive devices, gaining first-hand experience of mixed and virtual reality scenarios. This combination of theory, discussion, and hands-on experimentation enabled the team to assess the relevance of immersive technologies in a realistic and informed way.
