With the aim of tapping into larger groups of buyers, Gira wants to develop a smaller automation device. Quality and degree of innovation must be able to exist alongside the established products.
Task
The Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG would like to develop a new device for KNX bus-supported building automation. An intuitive and powerful Windows application for project planning should help to win new groups of buyers. The requirement for the device is: permanently, reliably and as quickly as possible to execute the projected logic - despite limited resources. The presentation on the operating display of the logic module should be in the form of a block diagram. This enables the user to create simple as well as complex sequences. Zühlke also supplies flexible logic modules. With these components, Gira wants to give users the opportunity to create their own new components.
Solution
The first step is to select the appropriate technology. A Zühlke team of experts supports the customer in selecting suitable platforms and technology components, including prototyping. In the second step, a powerful team consisting of Zühlke, a design agency and two development teams from the customer transforms the idea into a product. The implementation process involves a number of specific challenges, such as strict implementation according to SCRUM with several teams, a large project ecosystem and a technologically demanding customer. In this way, 40 partly highly complex, highly parameterizable logic components are created. In addition, there is now an easy-to-use expansion interface for new logic devices.
