Planning, configuring and monitoring pump systems costs installers and operators a lot of time and money. The solution: The pumps must be smart. To do this, they need a cloud connection and an app function, including remote control and maintenance. Zühlke supplied not only the app function for Wilo but also the back end and developed parts of the Gateway software.

Wilo is the world leader in pump technology and is focusing massively on the subject of digitalisation. In addition to production, the digitisation strategy also covers organisation, products and new business models. Agile methods allow the team to implement changes from strategy updates. For example, Zühlke develops the app function, back end and parts of the gateway software from the initial idea and also takes over the operation of the solution after the go-live - while Wilo advances from a pump manufacturer to a solution provider and digital pioneer of an entire industry.

Gerald Brose is Director Business Development at the Zühlke Group. An Economics graduate, he is responsible for business development in Germany for the industrial sector with a focus on plant and mechanical engineering. Before joining Zühlke, he worked as a consultant and key account manager in IT outsourcing. In addition to the overarching theme of digitalisation, Gerald is currently focused on IP ownership in product innovation, monetisation of data science use cases, and customer experience.
