Kinastic set out to digitise strength training in health clubs by digitally documenting entire training sessions automatically. Zühlke supported the start-up from the early concept stage through to hardware development, helping transform an innovative idea into a market-ready solution.

Many health clubs are still largely analogue: training stats and performance are recorded manually in a journal. Further processing of this data is only possible with considerable effort, which is why
Kinastic wanted to change this by digitising strength training. The concept relied on a smart pin attached to a fitness machine, automatically transmitting sets’ weights and repetitions directly to a smartphone app. To realise this vision, Kinastic needed support with development, electronics and product design, prompting Zühlke to accomplish this.
In a series of collaborative workshops, Zühlke worked with Kinastic to sharpen the core value proposition, define technical requirements, and continuously review and refine the product approach and strategy. This iterative approach resulted in a clearly defined Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that balanced technical feasibility with user needs.
“We appreciate how Zühlke treats a small start-up like ours as an equal and works with us at eye level.” “We appreciate how Zühlke treats a small start-up like ours as an equal and works with us at eye level.”
Zühlke’s specialists further refined Kinastic’s business concept and engineered the smart pin, enabling reliable recording of training data on a smartphone. To validate the solution, Zühlke produced a pilot hardware run, allowing for customer testing under real-world conditions.
