Course overview

The course has been adapted to the needs of system and product development and additional topics added where required. You will gain an in-depth understanding of requirements engineering methods. In regulated environments in particular, these methods, together with traceability of requirements, are now an essential element of the requirements engineering process.

The first day focuses on basic principles and the application of methods for identifying and documenting requirements. The second day deals with verification, management and testing of requirements, including practical exercises, and will also look at tools.

Requirements engineering often plays a major role only in the early stages of a project, receding into the background as the project progresses. The course will also look at how requirements affect day-to-day development work, from defining the project, through the various development phases, to testing and product delivery.

Goals

At the end of the course, you will have a good understanding of requirements engineering and its role within the overall context of a project. You will be able to identify, analyse, consolidate, document, verify, manage and test requirements. You will be familiar with key methods and will understand how requirements engineering fits into your product development process.

Target group

The course is aimed at people who are involved in a professional capacity with system and product development, but have little theoretical knowledge of requirements engineering or want to extend their knowledge with examples from other industries.
