The global market leader in tunnel boring machines wanted to offer new, digital services. Zühlke and Herrenknecht developed the right data platform. Consolidated data platform To enable continuous optimisation of its technology and products going forward, Herrenknecht is enhancing its offering with new, digital services. The new services will be based on intelligent analysis of machine data over the course of entire tunnelling projects. To optimise data utilisation, the company needed a single data platform spanning all business areas and all machine types. Jointly defining and implementing requirements Zühlke and Herrenknecht developed an existing platform into a new unified platform. By using a unified data model, the new platform enables consistent, tamperproof storage of data from all machine types. Data is stored in real time both locally on the machine and in the cloud, providing site managers with flexible data analytics capabilities. Zühlke and Herrenknecht worked together to define precise requirements for the data platform and used an agile approach to effectively and reliably implement these requirements. Flexibility for future development Zühlke developed an API designed to enable controlled access, ensuring that the platform offers high flexibility in terms of future development. As an example, forthcoming development means the platform will soon display machine status and pending maintenance procedures at a glance.
