In cybersecurity or paragliding – specialists like Gian-Luca Frei are flying high in Bern.

Gian-Luca Frei's day-to-day work is as varied as the local mountain landscape.

He joined Zühlke Bern in 2019 as a Security Engineer. His relatively small but fast-growing department handles all cybersecurity issues, such as supporting software engineers with regard to the security architecture, conducting internal reviews and external client reviews, designing and constructing architectures and implementing security solutions.

«Software Engineering isn't just about high tech, it's about empathy as well»

David joined Zühlke 14 years ago as a junior developer, climbed the career ladder, moved to Bern in 2018 and a year later became Lead Engineer.

One thing hasn't changed, though: his passion for coding. He still spends around 80% of his working time doing this.

«Being open with each other, that's just part of being here.»

Like many of her colleagues, Doris Rogger started as a Developer at Zühlke Bern. Then as a Software Engineer, Architect and Scrum Master, she broadened her experience over a period of five years and, jointly with clients, developed solutions for complex projects.

In 2019, she moved to the Leadership Team. In her role as 'Head of Competence Unit' she leads a department with three software development teams in the areas of Java, .NET and Mobile. Among other things, she is responsible for the ongoing development of co-workers. For Doris, it is important to deal openly with co-workers and to support them on their path.
