TAG Heuer demands the highest accuracy and quality. The watch manufacturer checks the running precision of each movement several times during the production process. This check measures the frequency (± 0.1s / day) and the vibration amplitude (± 1°) of the balance. The frequency directly affects the precision of the time measurement; the amplitude is a benchmark of the assembly quality, which affects the power reserve and long-term accuracy of the watch. At current production volumes, existing measurement systems are too inaccurate and unreliable.
Zühlke devises a new measuring method and develops a customised measurement system. The test results were outstanding and exceeded the high expectations in terms of reliability and precision. Zühlke implemented the testing system in cooperation with the partners.
