Gerry Zühlke, our founder, was a serial entrepreneur. He still is…
During his professional life, he established at least a dozen tech companies and, although now retired, he remains an angel investor.
Gerry established Zuhlke Engineering AG in Zurich as the centerpiece of his portfolio in April 1968. The firm provided engineering services – initially to its portfolio of companies.
Fifty years later, that same company has spawned several offices across Europe and Asia. Our employee-owned business has now grown to over 1,000 highly skilled team members. And yet, our core ambition remains the same: to empower ideas and to create value through innovation.
Our strategy for the immediate future is to build on that engineering heritage. We want to focus on expanding our services into very early stage innovation. We have begun to work on our extensive experience of operating systems and managing production.
Our longer-term ambition for the next 50 years is to serve customers in every innovation hot-spot around the globe. But we have some work to do before we get there. In Europe, for example, there is a very buzzing start-up scene in the Baltic Sea – right now, we have no presence in this geography. In Asia, we have just launched two fledgling operations in Singapore and Hong Kong – so there’s plenty of scope here for expansion. And, without a presence in Silicon Valley or in Israel, are we a really credible global innovation provider?
It’s been a fascinating 50 years and I am immensely proud of Zuhlke’s past achievements. However, in all honesty, I am even more excited about the future. A future where Zuhlke continues to drive innovation and empower ideas. A future that I want to share with you in our newsletters.
