The course content is based on the international IREB syllabus for the certificate “Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering - Foundation Level”. You will acquire a solid understanding and practical knowledge of the basic concepts and methods of requirements engineering and will learn basics and best practices that apply equally to all domains. Great emphasis is placed on applying and practicing widely used methods for the development, documentation and testing of requirements.

Please note: The CPRE-FL certification exam is not included in the course. We recommend further self-study of IREB contents if you intend to take the certification exam.

Goals

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained an understanding of the basic motivation for requirements engineering and its role in the overall context of a project. You will have a sound knowledge of how to elicit, analyse, specify, consolidate, document, test and manage requirements. You will also be familiar with the main methods for each of these activities and with criteria for selecting the best approach for any given project.

Target group

The course is intended for beginners who have already come into contact with software and systems engineering in their work, but who lack basic theoretical knowledge of requirements engineering. Although participants are not required to have a degree in computer science, they should have a basic understanding for software development.
