Software Development, Lean, Scrum and Agile

Professional Scrum Developer - Java Edition

Experience practical, real life development with Scrum. Develop software using Scrum and best of breed agile development practices in several Sprints.

Certification course (D10077)

An extant Scrum team has mysteriously vanished. You join the replacement team in the role of a developer, where you are required to take over the existing code base. With the project already in progress and a development environment already set up, you are able to jump right in and concentrate on Scrum and agile practices. Time required to get to grips with the technology, frameworks and toolset used is minimal.

Each team works independently and selects a Scrum Master from within the team. The trainer acts as Product Owner and prepares the team for working as a self-organising entity. Each team has to deal with critical situations and learn to act under such conditions. The main focus of the course is on Scrum, with a secondary focus on agile development practices. A tertiary focus is on agile working with established Java tools and framework.

Goals

At the end of the course you will be able to operate professionally within Scrum projects. You will develop potentially shippable software with Eclipse, JUnit, Subversion and Jenkins Sprint by Sprint.

At the end of the course, you will also have the opportunity to test your knowledge using the Professional Scrum Developer assessment. Exam fees are included in the course costs. More information about the assessment is available on the Scrum.org website.

Target group

Some theoretical knowledge of Scrum is required. Participants should be familiar with the Scrum Master, Product Owner and Development Team roles. A basic understanding of Sprints, Sprint Planning Meetings, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives is required. Participants should be able to put together Sprint Backlogs and create burn down charts. The course is intensive and participants are expected to be willing to actively participate in discussions and want to work as part of a team.
