CAx in Product Development
Modern product development would be inconceivable today without computer-aided engineering tools. Design and visualisation with 3-D CAD have been considered state-of-the-art for some time, but there is still great potential for growth in computer-aided innovation (CAI) and optimisation (CAO). Virtual reality is nearly within reach, although the set-up and testing of real prototypes remain indispensable in almost all cases.

Zühlke engineers create virtual prototypes as the basis for optimisation processes. Simulations and calculations on statics and dynamics, thermics, optics and electronics all form an important and integral part of the development process at Zühlke.

We draw on our years of experience in the efficient use of CAE tools to assure you of quick and meaningful results. That, in turn, reduces expenditure in the production and testing of prototypes. When you team up with Zühlke in product development, you benefit from shorter development times and lower overall costs.

We are your partner for digital engineering and
  • Develop your ideas into an optimum product, using efficient calculation and simulation tools in the fields of mechanics, optics and electronics.
  • Verify virtual prototypes and simulations experimentally in real tests (model and prototype construction).
  • Provide you with interdisciplinary solutions from a single source.
We are specialised in
  • The development of complex products using CAD and e-CAD;
  • Computer-aided innovation using the CAI tool Goldfire (TRIZ);
  • Computer-aided optimisation: FEM structural analyses, optical simulation, kinematics.

Project examples

Sensor-guided joining of 3-D steel profiles
This project involved a cost-effective and flexible process for creating stable, lightweight metal profile joints that was easy to operate and calculate. Downtime was minimised by doing process set-up offline. More...

FEM simulation: component subject to thermal loading
Zühlke used a FEM simulation tool to test CAD models of a design variation for behaviour at high temperatures and for strength at varying temperatures. The customer did not need any infrastructure of its own for this project. More...

Technical review of an easy chair
This project involved optimising an electric-powered easy chair to meet the customers' high expectations of quality and ergonomics. Zühlke conducted a technical review to check the functionality, ergonomics and long-time stability of the chair. More...
