Foreign Scholarship
Zühlke has awarded its 2010 international scholarship
This we year we have the pleasure of congratulating two winners. Both the graduates of the Northwestern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (FHNW) put a really convincing case to the jury in their presentations. The award will therefore be split between these two winners this year, with each receiving CHF 7,500.
Following an apprenticeship as an application developer, Patrick de Boer (22) studied computer science at FHNW. While studying he also founded a business. In autumn 2010 he will begin a Master’s degree at the Munich Technical University (TUM). Following completion of this degree, he hopes to work as a project manager or developer in an interesting company. He spends his free time together with friends, playing squash, reading and exploring the world.
Marcel Siegfried (27) completed an apprenticeship as a polytechnician and then worked in the trade for four years. In order to enhance his knowledge with regard to technical issues, in 2007 he enrolled on the Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s Programme at FHNW. In autumn 2010 he will begin his Master’s studies at Leuven University in Belgium. Following completion of this degree he wishes to continue his activities in the field of research and development. In his free time he rides mountain bikes and racing bikes, runs and keeps bees.
This year students at Swiss universities and graduates (up to three years after graduation) could apply for the scholarship. It provides support for Masters studies in technical subjects, especially electrotechnology, computer science and mechanical engineering.
